Editorial Policy & Standards

This page sets out the standards behind everything we publish at Daily Junction. We make it public because trust should be verifiable, not assumed.

Accuracy and fact-checking

We aim to be accurate in every detail, large and small. Before publication, articles are reviewed for factual claims, and we check those claims against reliable, primary sources wherever possible. When we cite data, research or official statements, we link to the original so readers can verify it themselves.

If we cannot adequately verify a claim, we either leave it out or clearly label it as unconfirmed.

Sourcing

• We prioritise primary sources — original research, official data, first-hand statements — over second-hand summaries.
• We link to sources so readers and other publications can check our work.
• We distinguish clearly between reporting (what is known), analysis (what it means) and opinion (a writer's argued view). Opinion pieces are labelled as such.

Independence and conflicts of interest

Our editorial decisions are made independently. Contributors are expected to disclose any conflict of interest, and we do not allow advertising or commercial relationships to influence editorial coverage. Where a relevant relationship exists, we disclose it within the article.

Corrections

We will make mistakes; what matters is how we handle them. When we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and transparently:

• Significant factual errors are corrected and noted.
• Articles updated after publication carry an updated date.
• To report an error, contact us via the contact page. We take every correction seriously.
• We keep a dated public record of corrections and clarifications — see our corrections log.

Use of artificial intelligence

We use technology to assist with research, drafting and editing, but editorial responsibility always rests with a human. Every published article is reviewed by a person who is accountable for its accuracy. We do not publish unreviewed automated content.

Authorship and expertise

Articles carry a byline identifying the author, along with their area of expertise. Our contributors are chosen for genuine knowledge of the subjects they cover, and our biographies reflect their actual background.

Diversity

Diversity in our newsroom is something we treat as an editorial standard, not an afterthought. We aim for a contributor team whose backgrounds, beats and perspectives are varied enough to catch blind spots that a narrower newsroom would miss, and we actively cover the UK beyond London and the South East, rather than defaulting to a single regional or demographic viewpoint.

On contested issues, we look for a genuine range of credible perspectives rather than settling for the first or loudest source. We do not discriminate in who we commission or credit on the basis of background, and we review our own coverage periodically to check whose voices are — and are not — being represented.

Reader contributions

We welcome tips, story ideas and corrections from readers. Submitting information does not guarantee publication, and we verify reader-supplied claims to the same standard as any other source.
